Mervyn Silva removed from his Deputy Minister Post & party membership from SLFP





The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse had taken decision to remove Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva from his Ministry position and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has cancelled his party membership, was stated by the President’s media.

It further quotes, in regard to his recent conduct a disciplinary inquiry was held this event. Mervyn Silva tied a Samurdhi officer (Muslim Govt. Servant, Mohamed Isham) to a mango tree last week over the failure by the officer to attend a dengue prevention programme in Kelaniya. The move caused island wide protests by Samurdhi officers who demanded the government to take legal action against the Deputy Minister. (Ends)
